Live Q&A and Feedback

What is Live Q&A?

Live Quizzes in KlickerUZH can be coupled with a Live Q&A that enables students to ask questions anonymously. Lecturers can answer either in writing or orally. This facilitates the immediate clarification of questions and fosters interaction between lecturer and students in the classroom.

We typically recommend using Live Q&A in large lectures, where a teaching assistant supports the lecturer by answering incoming questions in writing and pinning the most important ones to the compact lecturer view for oral responses. For more information on the recommended usage, please also refer to the use case on live Q&A.

Once a Live Quiz has ended, all submitted Live Q&A questions and answers to these can be accessed through the evaluation view.

What is Live Feedback?

In addition to Live Q&A, and through a separate independent setting, lecturers may activate the Live Feedback functionality during Live Quizzes. All participants of the quiz can then submit feedback on the speed and difficulty of the lecture through two simple sliders. This feedback is aggregated on a rolling basis over the last 10 minutes and displayed in the lecturer cockpit.

Once the Live Quiz has ended, a timeline of all submitted feedback can be accessed through the evaluation view.

How can I activate and use Live Q&A and Live Feedback?

The Live Q&A and Feedback functionalities are embedded in the Live Quiz and can be activated during its execution. For more details on how to create a live quiz, review the dedicated tutorial on live quiz creation.

The most important functionalities of Live Q&A are the following:

  1. Activate Live Q&A: As soon as your Live Quiz is running, you can activate the Live Q&A channel in the lecturer cockpit. Depending on the presets you have made during the creation of the quiz, the Live Q&A channel might also be active already.
  2. Moderation: If enabled, moderation keeps asked questions hidden to participants by default, meaning that the question (and its answer) only become visible to all students once you have toggled its visibility (using the eye icon) or responded to it. Without moderation, all questions are immediately visible to all participants.
  3. Voting: Questions that are shown to all participants can be upvoted by them. This allows the most relevant questions to be prioritized and addressed first. Responses to questions can either be upvoted or marked with a question mark by students.
  4. Answer Questions: After clicking on a question, you have the possibility to answer it in writing. The question will then automatically be marked as resolved and both the question and your answer will become visible to all students (independent of the moderation setting).
  5. Manage Questions: The Live Q&A channel offers you the possibilities to resolve them without an answer, delete them, or pin them to the top of the list and the compact lecturer view.
  6. Export: You can export all submitted questions and answers in PDF format for later reference or sharing with students. This functionality is available in the lecturer cockpit during the quiz execution or in the evaluation view after the quiz has ended.

To enable Live Feedback, follow these steps:

  1. Activate Live Feedback: In the lecturer cockpit, you can activate the Live Feedback functionality. Once activated, students will see the speed and difficulty feedback sliders in the audience view.
  2. Inspect Incoming Feedback: As soon as students start submitting feedback, you will see the aggregated feedback in the lecturer cockpit. The feedback is updated every few seconds and represents the average speed and difficulty ratings over the last 10 minutes.
  3. Timeline: After the Live Quiz has ended, you can access the timeline of all submitted feedback in the evaluation view.
